Flash Devices
The Flash Devices feature describes the flash memory chips on your board and how they are divided into partitions. Other features find their storage by partition name; for example, Firmware OTA stages incoming images in ota_staging_partition.
Flash devices are configured on Zephyr-based devices.
Flash Device
Each entry in Flash Devices represents one flash chip:
- Flash Device Name: the chip's name in the board's device tree, for example
at45db081e. - Label: the device tree label of the chip.
- Path: the device tree path of the chip.
- Partitions: the partitions defined on this chip.
When the label or path is left empty, the editor offers to fill them in from the board definition.
Partitions
Each partition is a fixed region of the chip:
- Name: the partition's name. Other features look partitions up by name, for example
storage_partitionorota_staging_partition. - Address: start offset of the partition on the chip, in bytes.
- Size (Bytes): length of the partition.
- Label: the partition's label.
- Mount Point: where the partition's file system is mounted, if it holds one.
Partitions must not overlap. The editor reports an error on any partition whose address range overlaps a partition listed before it.
Generated Configuration
The layout is written to the application's device tree overlay as a fixed-partitions node under each flash device, so changes take effect on the next build.
