Data Centers

The data center industry is one of the fastest-growing business segments, as the insatiable demand for AI services fuels an unprecedented buildup of massive facilities. At the same time, not all operations have shifted to the public Cloud, and smaller, specialized, or private data centers continue to play an important role. Achieving data center security and efficiency requires monitoring and controlling multiple operational facets, including physical security, environmental parameters, and the detection of and response to power disruptions.

Tibbo Project System (TPS) simplicity, reliability, and inherent resilience to hacking through reduced firmware footprint make TPS products an ideal fit for data center monitoring and control applications. Aided by the no-code AppBlocks platform, TPS devices streamline the path to cost-effective data center solution development and deployment.

Ingress Monitoring

Physical security is critical for safeguarding data centers. Door and window sensors should be installed to secure the perimeter and entry points. TPS devices easily connect to standard wired ingress sensors, while the AppBlocks Platform enables seamless implementation of reactive measures to any input changes.

Card Access

Data and equipment protection requires strict access control and comprehensive access logging. The AppBlocks Platform facilitates the rapid creation of access control systems, including customized solutions that go beyond what standard products offer. The platform simplifies creating and managing data tables for storing ID codes and provides extensive event-logging capabilities.

Temperature Monitoring

Overheating is the leading cause of equipment failure. Tibbo Project System supports a variety of temperature-sensing solutions, both from Tibbo and third parties. Available sensor types include Tibbits (modules installed inside of TPS devices), Tibbo Cable Probes (I2C interface), Modbus sensors, as well as 1-wire and Single-wire devices. The AppBlocks Platform ensures easy integration of temperature monitoring into TPS applications.

Temperature control

Coupled with temperature monitoring, active temperature control ensures optimal equipment operating conditions, prolonging equipment life and lowering energy bills. TPS devices can interface with HVAC (heating, ventilation, and air conditioning) systems via discrete, analog, Modbus, or infrared control channels. The AppBlocks platform provides high-level building blocks and configuration interfaces for implementing temperature control in users' applications.

Humidity Monitoring

Excessive humidity can damage equipment and shorten the lifespan of electronic circuits. TPS devices support various humidity sensors, including humidity-measuring Tibbits, Tibbo Cable Probes (I2C interface), Tibbo-made and third-party Modbus sensors, and Single-wire devices. The AppBlocks platform simplifies integrating humidity monitoring into applications with intuitive configuration screens and high-level building blocks.

Flooding / Leakage detection

Complex cooling systems installed throughout data centers may require monitoring for leaks—Tibbo Project System devices interface to Tibbo-supplied Modbus leakage/flooding detectors and third-party sensors.

Tilting Detection

In earthquake-prone areas, physical damage to equipment is a concern. TPS-connected angle sensors (accelerometers) can be installed on equipment racks to detect tilts and falls. Tibbo supplies Modbus accelerometers that double as angle sensors. The AppBlocks platform enables effortless integration of these and other Modbus devices into customers' applications.

AC Voltage detection

Even a short-lived power failure can wreak havoc on a data center's operation. Therefore, power failure detection and reporting are paramount for data centers' uptime. The TPS family includes a voltage detection Tibbit designed to monitor the AC power status.

Fuel Level Sensing

Data centers with diesel backup generators will benefit from fuel level monitoring. TPS devices easily connect to simple switch-based water level sensors, as well as more advanced ultrasonic distance meters often used in liquid level monitoring applications.

Remote rebooting

Remote rebooting of malfunctioning computer equipment is an essential data center management tool. Wiring a TPS relay or open-collector Tibbit to a computer's reset line, coupled with a simple AppBlocks diagram, enables remote resets. Tibbo Project System devices and the AppBlocks platform make this simple but crucial capability easily achievable.
